From the age of 12, my dream was to become a hairdresser.

However, I was discouraged by the fact that only those who dropped out of school pursued this profession, so instead I turned towards art and focused on developing my skills in that field.

Years later, in 1994, I managed to secure an apprenticeship, despite being much older than most apprentices. To make ends meet, I also took on a part-time job to help pay off the house I had purchased at the age of 18. This was quite an unusual situation, but I was determined to make it work.

In 1998 I completed my apprenticeship and had fallen in love with the industry! I travelled interstate and was part of a creative team. I was passionate about all things hairdressing – colour, styling, fashion shows – everything! Looking back, I realise the reason I enjoyed my work so much was because I was able to express my creativity through hair, colour and styles.

About seven years ago I added makeup to my repertoire because I wanted to offer my clients the complete package. I want them to leave my studio with not only great hair, but also with flawless makeup application – all done by me. This way they can achieve a complete and cohesive look that will make them feel confident and beautiful.

I am always open and honest with my clients, and they appreciate this about me. We’ve all gone into a clothing store and tried on a dress that looks terrible, only to have the sales assistant tell us it looks amazing, just to make a sale. My clients can trust that I will give them my genuine opinion and work with them to find the best look for their hair and makeup.

WHAT I CHERISH MOST ABOUT MY JOB IS SIMPLY SEEING MY CLIENTS HAPPY.

Whether it’s a young girl who has never coloured her hair, or never worn makeup, or simply having a chat and connecting with someone, I find joy in lifting their spirits and helping them feel good about themselves.
